Less to remember at the ramp
Boat launch checklist
Tick off your preparation, launch and retrieval tasks. Edit the wording for your boat, add personal reminders, and print a copy before you leave. Your list saves on this device when browser storage is available.
Ticks track your list. They do not certify readiness or replace the boat and trailer instructions.
Use the checklist in three stages
Prepare at home, organize the boat in the staging area, then use a separate retrieval pass before towing away. The standard tasks are a starting point for organizing your own routine, not a comprehensive operating procedure. Read the manuals for your specific boat, engine, tow vehicle and trailer, and follow local instructions.
A practical example
For a first visit to a ramp, begin with its directory page and the operator’s current information. Check trailer parking and facilities before loading. Add a reminder such as “Pack the spare dock line.” At the ramp, finish loading in the staging area and brief everyone before entering the active lane. After retrieval, move clear before completing road preparation. Clear the ticks before the next trip while keeping your custom wording.
Customize, save and print
Use Edit beside any task to change its wording. Added reminders appear in their own section and can be removed. Changes save only in this browser’s local storage; private browsing, clearing site data or switching device may remove them. If storage is blocked, the checklist still works for the current visit and tells you it cannot save.
“Clear ticks” begins a new trip and retains your wording. “Restore default list” clears saved edits, reminders and ticks. Print or save as PDF uses your browser’s print dialog and includes the currently visible checklist. Keep a paper copy where useful.
How shared lists work
The share link carries standard-task completion IDs in the URL fragment. It excludes free text, custom reminder content and personal locations. Opening a shared link applies its standard ticks to the recipient’s device and clears any other ticks; that device’s custom reminders and wording remain. A tick is just a reminder state, not evidence that a task has been checked independently.
Source notes
Our organization of the list draws on general launch preparation and retrieval guidance from BoatUS Foundation’s operator responsibilities guide. That guide discusses staging, securing a boat during launch and retrieval, and moving clear before road preparation. The US Coast Guard boating app overview describes safety equipment checklists and float-plan tools for a fuller predeparture review. These references do not verify an individual ramp or vessel.
